POKOTABI / Kuramae Eishichi Sakaba
蔵前えいしち酒場
In Tokyo’s Kuramae–Komagata area, 蔵前えいしち酒場 serves fresh sashimi platters, chopstick-friendly yakitori and a wide selection of drinks for a relaxed evening.
01 / ABOUT THE PLACE
On a street in the Kuramae–Komagata area, 蔵前えいしち酒場 is a place to settle into an unhurried evening. The small dining room has limited seating, making it suited both to a quiet drink alone and to a leisurely conversation with close friends.
A sashimi platter is a good place to start, with freshness at the forefront. The selection follows the day’s fish supply and can include tuna, sea bream, yellowtail, flounder and the day’s namerō, offering a chance to take your time over the rich flavours of seasonal seafood. There is plenty to drink alongside it. Mention a preference for dry sake and the staff may suggest something; chilled sake is served from a katakuchi, and a varied shochu selection gives the evening another reason to linger over a glass.
The small plates cover plenty of ground, including the house specialty of yakitori served off the skewers, so several cuts can be enjoyed together without the fuss of removing them yourself. Other options include the popular chicken-skin gyoza, meat-wrapped green peppers with cheese and tomato grilled until fragrant, and fresh lamb cooked on a hotplate, alongside a generous choice of meat dishes and grilled fare.
On weekdays, the restaurant is open until midnight, making it an option for a later dinner or a final drink. Table service, a thoughtfully prepared otoshi and dishes to share help make it easy to settle in and let the evening unfold at an unhurried pace.
